OUR STORY
About our group
Our story began in 1984, when Ronald and Doreen Berry bought Holden Grange, followed by Hillbro and Grange Court, and finally Oak Lodge.
Doreen had qualified as a mental health nurse in the 1950s and worked for much of her career at Linfield Mount. Ronald was a window cleaner and weaver at a local mill. They used their savings to buy Holden Grange, seeing its potential as a care home and fulfilling a lifelong dream.
Holden Grange Care Group has remained a family business, and is now run by Michael Berry and his sons Leon and Jason. They are supported by a dedicated team of care staff.

Holden Grange Care Group has been established for over 25 years and provides 24-hour nursing and residential care for ladies and gentlemen, for both long and short stays.
We strive to create a homely atmosphere for both staff and residents. We aim to make the final years of a person’s life the best they can be. Positive attitude is a choice, and our team all know that a smile goes a long way.
Our intention is to provide care that allows our residents an enjoyable life with maximum independence and dignity, in safe and comfortable surroundings. We strive to ensure that all our residents receive the highest standard of care and enjoy a healthy diet, exercise, hobbies and social activities.
WE BELIEVE
Relationships matter
Our people are committed and compassionate. They all have a passion for delivering high standards of person-centred care. We believe in building strong relationships with everyone in each one of our care homes. We are able to achieve this by treating everyone with respect, dignity and love.

Our Mission
Supporting our people to provide compassion in every care: our mission is to support people with dementia and mental health conditions through dignity, empathy, respect and dedication to their well-being.

Our Dedicated Team
Our staff are key to the happy and safe atmosphere we strive to create in all our care homes. Each team member is dedicated to providing high quality care to every resident.

HILLBRO NURSING HOME
I’ve worked at Hillbro for 6 years with the last 2 in the post of Activities Co-ordinator. I enjoy the variety of activities and that every day is completely different.
What do you most enjoy about working with older people?
I like sitting and listening to the stories they tell. Hearing about the experiences they have had. Learning about their personalities and what they enjoyed doing and still enjoy doing.
What hobbies do you do outside of work?
Anything to do with music – this could be concerts, festivals or going to a musical. Walking. Anywhere. But preferably somewhere scenic. Spending quality time with my family and friends. Reading. I will read most books. Anything to do with crafting. Craft fairs, jewellery making, beading, painting. Shopping. Any kind of shopping. For anybody.

HILLBRO NURSING HOME & GRANGE COURT
I have worked for the Holden Grange Care Group for 16 years since 2008, but I’ve been at Grange Court for the last 3 years and have loved every minute of it.
What do you most enjoy about working with older people?
I just enjoy working with the elderly and hearing about all the amazing things they have done with their lives, I see them more as friends than residents.
What hobbies do you do outside of work?
I enjoy staying fit through a variety of activities, such as running, cycling and pole fitness. I’m also a single dad to 3 ragdoll cats who are my world.

Deputy Manager
OAK LODGE
I’ve worked here at Oak Lodge since November 2021. I enjoy the opportunities to make a meaningful impact on the residents’ lives, the variety of challenges that keep the work engaging, with everyday being so different, and being around a supportive team environment.
What do you most enjoy about working with older people?
The best thing is hearing about their experiences in life and learning about all their different stories, as everyone has had a different walk of life. I think everyone can learn a few valuable lessons and insights from spending time just talking with the residents.
What hobbies do you do outside of work?
When I’m not at work, I spend a large amount of time with my nephews and niece and being around family. Like a lot of people nowadays, I enjoy the occasional TikTok and Snapchat, as well as an occasional alcoholic beverage. I also like reading and watching a good series on Netflix.
